CRISS GIDAS

Criss Gidas is a Greek-Australian writer/director whose imagination never takes a day off. By day, she weaves action-packed narratives with heart and fearless female heroes. By night, she brings cinematic dreams to life as a cinema projectionist.

Hero of Hyrule? Check. Pokémaster in search of the next great character? Absolutely. Criss is always on a quest, blending action, heart, and a sprinkle of magic in everything she creates.

Criss was selected to be a part of the AFTRS/Screen Queensland Talent Camp, is a Stowe Story Labs Alumni, Semifinalist in the Disability Belongs™ Virtual Entertainment Lab 2025, and completed a note taking workshop run by Libby Butler (“Surviving Summer” on Netflix) and facilitated by Screen Queensland.

The television pilot “Dark Veil” is currently on CoverFly’s Red List, Top 1% in Genre/Format, #2 in Action Television (One-hour), #5 Action, and Top 1% of all projects. The script is the TV Pilot Winner of the the ScreenCraft Action & Adventure Screenplay Competition and Finalist in the Outstanding Screenplays TV Pilot Competition.

The narrative feature script “Tag, You’re It” was selected by Maeva Gatineau (Hopscotch Features) as apart of Screen Queensland’s Creative Consultations.

Criss’ debut feature self-funded film “Canvas” premiered at the Gold Coast Film Festival 2022. She was selected as a top three finalist for the Gold Coast Screen Professional of the Year award at the 2022 Industry Awards.
