“Articles of War” follows an ex-marine competing as an amateur MMA fighter
is embroiled in a court case against the man who sexually assaulted her.
Title Meaning: The codes and regulations created to govern the conduct of the United States Armed Forces,
referred to as “Military Law” or “Uniform Code Military Justice.”
After deployment, Second Lieutenant Ellie Rodriguez moves back home and has become a hospital cleaner by day and
amateur MMA fighter by night. With little to no family to look after her high school-age sister, Ellie has also taken on the responsibility of an interim mother. When Ellie is pulled into court for trying to speak out, she must find a way to face the
demons that haunt her without losing hold of the new life she’s building. However, juggling all these battles at once
might end up being her toughest fight yet.
The feature screenplay was selected for the Stowe Story Labs Remote Writers’ Retreat, a quarter-finalist in
The Script Lab Screenwriting Competition and a semi-finalist in Outstanding Screenplays Feature Competition.
