CRISS GIDAS

A multi-talented individual, Criss Gidas is a passionate Greek-Australian writer/director committed to telling stories through narrative fiction.

Criss was selected to be a part of the AFTRS/Screen Queensland Talent Camp in 2017 and her narrative feature script “Tag, You’re It” was selected by Maeva Gatineau (TWC/Hopscotch Features) as apart of Screen Queensland’s Creative Consultations. It was a finalist in the Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards - Diversity Initiative V. It was also selected for the Stowe Story Labs Remote Writer’s Retreat with the support of Screen Queensland.

The feature screenplay “Articles Of War” was selected for the Stowe Story Labs Remote Writer’s Retreat, a quarterfinalist in The Script Lab’s screenwriting competition from more than 9,000 submissions, and a semi-finalist in Outstanding Screenplays feature competition.

Criss’ debut feature film “Canvas” premiered at the Gold Coast Film Festival 2022 and she was selected as a top three finalist for the Gold Coast Screen Professional of the Year award at the 2022 Industry Awards. She also completed a Screen Queensland attachment as a Post-Production Coordinator with WildBear Entertainment in Brisbane and a note taking workshop run by Libby Butler (“Surviving Summer” on Netflix) and facilitated by Screen Queensland.

The narrative feature screenplay “Pirouette” was a semi-finalist in the Queensland Screenwriting Awards at the Gold Coast Film Festival 2023 and Outstanding Screenplay Feature Competition, top 50 at Launch Pad Feature Competition, an honourable mention at the Big Apple Film Festival Screenplay Competition 2023, and a finalist in the Bondi Screenplay Competition 2023 and Script Summit 2023. It was also selected for the 2023 Stowe Story Labs Remote Writer’s Retreat.

The television pilot “Silent Blades” was written as a part of the Stowe Story Labs The Writers Room, an online writing programme for episodics facilitated by Derek Simonds, the award winning creator/show-runner of the Netflix hit series “The Sinner” starring Bill Pullman, and David Pope, a script consultant who has worked with Academy Award and BAFTA-nominated producers and screenwriters. It was also a quarterfinalist in the ScreenCraft TV Pilot Script Competition and ScreenCraft Screenwriting Fellowship, semi-finalist in the Cinequest Screenwriting Competition and Outstanding Screenplay TV Pilot Competition, and took part in Take Your TV Pilot From Good To Great With David Hannam through Media Mentors Australia.

Most recently, Criss is taking part in the monthly Writers Write programme facilitated by Screen Queensland and a mentorship with Chris Millis from Stowe Story Labs for her feature screenplay “Articles Of War.”
